Australia’s parliament has approved a shipment of Israeli-made kiddush wine bound for Baghdad. According to Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Yossi Segelman, the Jewish chaplain to the Australian Defense Forces, the two boxes of wine will allow Jewish Australian and American soldiers stationed in the war-torn Iraq capital to celebrate Shabbat.
“There’s about a couple of dozen Australian and American Jewish soliders who get together every Friday night,” Segelman told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
The soldiers have formed a congregation called Bnei Baghdad.
