Igor Slyunyayev, the newly installed governor of Kostroma, Russia, met with a delegation of local Jewish leaders and members of the federal district’s other ethnic group.

During the meeting, which was held in the district’s legislature, Chief Rabbi of Kostroma Nison Ruppo, a Chabad-Lubavitch emissary, presented the official with the album Jews of Russia 2007.

For his part, the governor thanked the Jewish community for being able to take part in its public Chanukah celebration this winter, and invited its leadership to take part in an official delegation visiting Israel in late March. …
