The Jewish community of Makeyevka, Ukraine, opened a guest house for Shabbat visitors from the surrounding region.
Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Eli Kramer, chief rabbi of the Eastern Ukraine town, and wife Hadassa Kramer spearheaded the project – which will welcome Shabbat guests free-of-charge and provide them with four kosher meals a day – in order to make it possible for Jewish people from the industrialized Donbass Region to celebrate Shabbat in accordance with Jewish law.
"Now it is possible for us to welcome dozens of guests," said Adasa Kramer. "In the future, we plan to move the facility to another building, where it will be possible to accommodate even more visitors."
The Jewish community of Makeyevka is a member of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine.
