Chabad of Rural and Regional Australia, along with Chabad of North Queensland, hosted a challah bake this week in solidarity with Israel during a time of war. The group that attended included young families and seniors.

A world away, the Chabad of Orange County in New York sponsored a CTeen (Chabad Teen Network) challah bake fundraiser for Israel.

Sorority students in North Carolina also showed their support for Israel as they came together for a challah bake and sale. Working with the Chabad at Elon University, members of the Kappa Delta Sorority made dozens and dozens of challahs that were packaged with labels saying, “Thank you for supporting Israel.”

A “mega” challah bake was also held at the Chabad Center for Jewish Life in Randolph, N.J. Originally scheduled for November, the date was moved up so that the community could show their support for Israel and “gather our mitzvot together as one nation of women and use it as ammunition to fight darkness!”

Women and girls also gathered for a challah bake at the Jewish Learning Centre in Winnipeg, Canada. Each person had enough flour and dough so that they could fulfill the mitzvah of hafrashat challah, separating a part of the dough and setting it aside, and then making a blessing for the Jewish people, the Israel Defense Forces and others.

During the event, sponsored by Chabad-Lubavitch of Winnipeg, the women learned a variety of different techniques to make challah.

They also discovered how kneading challah dough is “therapy in mitzvot” and hands-on stress relief as the “adult version of play dough.”

Some added benefits of making challah are described outside an event in Winnipeg, Canada.
