JERUSALEMYocheved Lifshitz declared that she “went through hell” when taken hostage to the Gaza Strip. The 85-year-old Lifshitz, and Nurit Cooper, 79, were abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz on Oct. 7 and released on Oct. 23. Their elderly husbands remain in captivity, along with an additional estimated 220 men, women and children.

“They went on a rampage through our kibbutz,” the resident of Nir Oz recalled. “They beat people, took some hostage. They didn’t distinguish between young and elderly. It was very painful.”

She described how Hamas terrorists laid her on a motorcycle, beating her with sticks during the ride into Gaza, which injured her ribs and interfered with her breathing.

Speaking of her ordeal in Gaza, she said that “we arrived in the tunnel and walked for kilometers on wet dirt. There is a giant system of tunnels, like spiderwebs.”

She continued: “We started walking in the tunnels, the dirt is damp; everything is damp and humid. We reached a hall with 25 people in it. After two to three hours, they separated five of the people from my kibbutz Nir Oz. They guarded us closely.”

Here is a list of names of the hostages for prayer.
