A new book records in fascinating detail the arrest, imprisonment and commuted death sentence of Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, of righteous memory — the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, one of the greatest thorns in the side of the Communist government of Russia.

Edited by Rabbi Dr. Alter Bentzion Metzger, professor of Jewish Studies at Stern College, and published by the Kehot Publication Society, the book, "The Heroic Struggle," is being released in conjunction with the 72nd anniversary of the Rebbe's liberation from the communist claws on the Hebrew date of Tammuz 12 (this year: June 26).

The volume combines the Rebbe's extensive diary and many newly discovered documents and photographs, including those of the Rebbe's KGB file.

Advance praise for the book includes that of United States Senator (NY) Daniel Patrick Moynihan and a host of academics.
