A new Torah dedicated to worldwide Jewish unity was completed yesterday, six years after the Chabad Youth Organization in Israel embarked on the project. Following a celebration Monday night in Jerusalem, a bustling crowd welcomed the Torah scroll to its new home in the Western Wall synagogue.

Among the thousands of people who bought letters in the Torah scroll – it began as part of a campaign to enliven the Israeli people living through the terrorist attacks of the second Intifada – were Israel Defense Force personnel who purchased letters before deployment in last year's Second Lebanon War.

The completion of the Torah took place in a hall in the vicinity of the Western Wall. Thousands, including many Israeli soldiers, took part in the dancing and procession that took the Torah to the synagogue.
