A delegation representing a cross-section of Israel’s Knesset gathered on May 28 at the Ohel in Queens, N.Y.—the resting place of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory.

Among the participants were Deputy Speaker of the Knesset, Nurit Koren of Likud; Yoel Hasson, chairman of Zionist Union; Shuli Mualem-Refaeli, chairman of Jewish Home; Oded Forer of Yisrael Beiteinu; and Culture and Transportation Minister Miri Regev of Likud.

MK Mualem-Refaeli recalled receiving a dollar and a blessing from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, and meeting people from all walks of Jewish life while waiting on line, noting that Chabad emissaries remain “anchors for the Jewish people everywhere.”

MK Hasson, who was visiting the Ohel for the first time, said that Chabad “promotes tolerant and universal Judaism, and for me, it is an unforgettable experience to come to the Rebbe’s resting place for the first time.”

“The Rebbe established a magnificent network of emissaries who are active in Israel and abroad for the benefit of the Jewish people and Judaism,” said MK Forer. “For our society and our people, I only wish their activities will continue to increase.”

Rabbi Joseph Aharonov, chairman of Agudas Chassidei Chabad B’Eretz HaKodesh, which arranged the visit, accompanied the Knesset members to the Ohel, saying it was good to see them “joining the hundreds of thousands of Jews who come here every year to connect with the Rebbe and his legacy.”
