During a two-day official trip to Moscow, Israeli Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin met with Russian Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar and expressed his appreciation for the work done by the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Former Soviet Union and the hundreds of rabbis and Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries who direct a multitude of the region’s Torah, educational and welfare institutions.

In turn, Lazar thanked Rivlin on behalf of the Jewish community for the help its members receive from Israelis living in Russia and Russians living in Israel.

Rivlin, who was accompanied by Knesset legislator Robert Elituv, also pointed out how impressed he was by the cooperation between the Russian government and the Jewish community.
