In an effort to provide an outlet for the outpouring of international support for the survivors of last Friday night’s brutal murder of two parents and three of their children while they slept in their home in Itamar, Israel, the Jewish website Chabad.org is collecting readers’ letters and well-wishes and forwarding them to the orphans left behind.
The “Write to the Fogel Family” page, which can be found by clicking here, encourages readers to upload a picture and make a resolution to perform a good deed in the merit of Rabbi Udi and Ruth Fogel, and their three of their six children, Yoav, 11, Elad, 4, and Hadas, 3 months old.
Discovered by their 12-year-old daughter Tamar after she returned after a youth-group meeting, the Fogels’ murder stunned the small community of Itamar and shocked people around the world. Authorities believe at least one Palestinian perpetrator slaughtered the family after climbing the community’s perimeter fence. Two other sons, Ro’i, 8, and Shai, 2, also survived.
Chabad.org’s letter and condolence page has been translated into six languages and is featured on all of the site’s international sections.
