As the Obama Administration faces off against the state of Arizona in a challenge to a controversial law that targets suspected illegal immigrants, the Institute of American and Talmudic Law in New York invited lawyers to Chabad-Lubavitch of Midtown Manhattan for a seminar on U.S. immigration law and the applicability of classic Jewish texts to the issue.

Immigration attorneys Leon and Michael Wildes were scheduled to address the institute’s seminar Thursday evening. In addition, Rabbi Shlomo Yaffe, a noted Talmudic scholar and the institute’s dean, was slated to offer a comparisons between U.S. policy and Talmudic sources.

Founded in 2008 as an affiliate of the midtown Chabad, the Institution of American and Talmudic Law offers continuing legal education to attorneys and other professionals.
