A story I heard September 5, 2024

Despite the joke of the dog and the verse, there is a story with R levi yitzchok of berditchev written in likutei diburim, how he went to rescue a Jew from his spiritual imprisonment and how the owner shot his vicious dog who used to attack Jews. Reply

Verse 14 says Jews will be "the most blessed of all the peoples." Is this why we're called the Chosen People? Is verse 18 the source for the mitzvah to remember the Exodus? Reply

I am a Gentile who has been somewhat studying Judaism for years. At times I come to a sticking point. Sometimes I ignore them. Sometimes I find answers This question is basic but it expands. If the land of Israel is so important, how could 2 ½ tribes thumb their noses at G-d and His gift and decide they don’t want it and Moses and even G-d seem ok with that. For space, the question is oversimplified. Can it be explained easily online with a link to some article or talk? Reply

Hi Dale. Excellent question! On the Chabad.org website, in the upper right hand corner, there is a search box. I just typed "tribes trans Jordan," and the 1st three articles may be what you're looking for. Enjoy! Reply

Maybe I should read numbers 32.
Thanks but if that's the best you can do why bother?
