just out of curiosity - do any of the commentators ever question why pesach starts on the 14th, instead of the 1st? Reply

Rabbi Mendel Adelman June 30, 2021
in response to c:

The Jewish People are compared to the moon. They wax and wane, just like the moon. The 15th is when the moon is full. That signifies the primacy of the Jewish People, that they are not being subdued. So, the major holidays of Pesach and Sukkos fall out on the 15th of the month.
