Thank you for this beautiful story full of history and pain at the same time. We travel a lot and although we are not Jewish, we visit synagogues and Jewish cemeteries when we can. Very often without looking for it we see the traces of Jewish life, recent or from a very distant past. At the moment we are on the island of Sicily and discovered a Star of David when we visited an archaeological site. A village not far from Palermo called Solunto dates from the beginning of our era and was built on a mountain overlooking the sea. Very special to see traces of Jewish life here too. (parco archeologico solunto). By the way, can someone put me in touch with the family of the long-deceased Rabbi Stolper? This is my maiden name! Raised as a Christian but now Jewish, I might have Jewish roots, although not through my mother! Christina Niessink-Stolper Reply
