Yaron Nisenholz, former Chief Rabbi of Basel, Switzerland, holds a B.A. in humanities from the Open University of Israel and a M.A in Jewish history from Tel Aviv University. Since 2020 he is a doctoral student at Tel Aviv University, and in his current research, he is concentrating on the study of custom books from the early modern period. During the years 2002-2015 he lived with his family in Basel, Switzerland, where he served as rabbi of the Jewish community. In 2015 he returned to Israel, and since then he has been serving as a community rabbi in Tel Aviv.
