Mordechai’s Self-imposed Exile & Esther’s Name Change: The Talmud on the Megillah, Lesson 19
The unique verbiage employed to detail Mordechai's descent into an exilic reality reveals much about the exemplary sensitivity, compassion and self-sacrificial concern he naturally exhibited for his people – possibly making the case for his ultimate inspired leadership. The “name-game” regarding the nascent Purim heroine is analysed next. Four deceptively simple explanations are offered; yet each is deeply profound in its own right.
