Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- ½ tsp. baking soda
- 5 eggs
- 1 tbsp. cognac
- 2 tbsp. water
- 1 quart (1 liter) oil
- Powdered sugar
Directions:
- Mix the flour, baking soda, eggs, cognac and water until mixture comes together in a ball. Knead.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let rest 30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into four balls. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest 10 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a pot.
- Roll the first ball of dough into a rectangle. Cut into two strips, and cut small slits along one side of each piece (as shown in the video).
- Wrap the dough around a fork and gently lower into the oil. Use two forks to shape the dough into a rose. When golden, remove from oil.
- Repeat with remaining dough. Dust with confectioners sugars.
