Returning to the posuk “זָכַרְתִּי לָךְ חֶסֶד נְעוּרַיִךְ...לֶכְתֵּךְ אַחֲרַי בַּמִּדְבָּר”

“חֶסֶד נְעוּרַיִךְ” refers to positive commandments that elicit Makifim that are “close”. “לֶכְתֵּךְ אַחֲרַי” on the other hand, refers to the essential (distant) Makif drawn down through negative commandments.

Whereas the Makkifim of positive commandments bring the advantage of revelation, they do not manifest essence. Negative commandments bring the presence of essence into the revelations elicited by positive commandments, and thus enable Ahavah Rabbah during the time of Golus.
