Ruth Hi, Rabbi.

I am enjoying your lectures so much. The one about resh had me outraged (pretend outrage) at the beginning: the news about poor resh just got worse and worse! How can this be! I was saying. It's not right! But of course it ended well.

At any rate, I'm trying to find out more about the letters in Ruth, but my poor elderly brain can't keep it all together, the flow & meaning of it, even though it's only 3 letters. Can you recommend something for me to read?

On another matter, I'm wondering if we're related. I'd like to know if I can e-mail or write to you privately?

Either way, I just found Chabad and am totally enthralled. Thanks again for all your good work. Reply

Yasher Koach! Today I pulled the letter Resh as my lesson for the week. At first I was confused - and went on line to discover the "meaning" of Resh. Listening to your extraordinary teaching - I could see that 1) I must take action - and create "the third leg."

Also, by turning to G*d I can "continue the stroke" and create a redemption for my life - turning poverty into richness simply by continuing holy actions and "returning."

Wise words indeed and very important in my life at this time. Thank you so much for this wonderful site. I will be delving into it much more! I am grateful.

Letters of Light: Resh Thank you Rabbi Raskin for your reply to my question. I have been poor all my life. All my siblings are monetary wealthier than me. However, I am rich in Hashem, blessed be He. I love Torah and all related to my King of Kings. How can a "poor" in material wealth, woman serve Hashem? Although my poverty I try to follow Hashem's commandment of mitzvot. I deeply love His teachings, statutes. He is my first love! I have no one but Him. Again, thank you for your wonderful teachings, I am learning a lot with them. Baruch Hashem. Many, many blessings to you and yours Rabbi. Reply

Alef to tav The letters Alef and tav and their connection are discussed on the video Alef and also on the Parsha video for Vayashev.

In short Alef-tav represent the 22 letters Alef thru tav that animate and vivify our every day world every moment. Reply

Ruth Ruth has the gematria of 606 because ruth was a convert and she accepted upon herself an additional 606 mitzvohs on top of the Seven noahide laws totaling 613.

Ruth was a holy woman and the grandmother of king David and the Moshiach. In short Ruth that starts with a reish represents the transformation of unholiness into holiness. Reply

Letters Of Light : Resh Does the name Rut have an evil meaning Rabbi Raskin? I changed my name to Rut because I could identify with Ruth in the story. For some reason, since I wanted to return to my Hebrew roots. My parents, both, were descendant of Sephardic Jews. I never like the name my siblings game me when I was born. I was the 7th child. Now that I have return to my roots I feel that I am reaching home. Although my siblings are not interested. Thank you for your teachings, I really appreciate it. Reply

Can you tell us about the aleph and the tav and their seemingly unusual placement throughout the Tanach, such as in Bereshith 1:1? Reply
