Not sure what I'm asking here, but I'm struck that after the Golden Calf, in this lesson the people are told to look at a copper serpent to be healed. ??? Reply

Its a very good question. This is where the famous symbol for medicine comes from, a snake wrapped around a staff. Initially the idea was to have the people stop looking at the earth but upwards towards heaven and understand that healing comes from G-d, as the staff with the snake was placed high up and planted into the ground like a flagpole. Later in history they began worshipping the snake and staff itself and forgetting Hashem and so the king at the time or the prophet decided to destroy it. More needs to be studied on this matter. Reply
