Thank you for the beautiful way you teach us the Torah. Dear Rabbi,

What is the Chumash translation you are using?

Thank you. Reply

Chitat for week of Yom Kippur We keep studying the weekly Torah portion week after week even though we will not actually read it in its entirety until Simchas Torah. The Yom Kippur reading does NOT stretch through the week and does not need to be studied all week.. Reply

Chitat for week of Yom Kippur Why isn't the Torah reading for Yom Kippur which is this Shabbat the Chitat for this week? Or should I have been doing that. Reply

I heard another explaination for the breaking of the Tablets. The Tablets of the Covenant were the ketubah in the "marriage" between G-d and Israel. If Moses would have brought them down to the People, the marriage would be complete, Israel would be adulterers, and G-d would not be able to take them back. Moses the matchmaker tore up the ketubah, there was no marriage....
Actually, Moses said he had a headache. G-d said, take 2 tablets and call me in the morning.
Thank you so much, Rabbi Gordon, for your wonderful, informative and inspiring classes. Reply
