The Democratization of Knowledge in the Jewish Tradition: An open culture of learning does not automatically lead to relativism
In the Jewish tradition study and knowledge has always been seen as open to all, regardless of socioeconomic status or lineage. But where is the line between intellectual openness and anarchy, between interpretive licence and relativism?

Naftali Rothenberg is the rabbi and spiritual leader of Har Adar, a Jerusalem suburb, and a senior research fellow at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute (since 1994). His main fields of interest are: the wisdom of love; democratic education; halakha and state. Rabbi Rothenberg is a visiting associate in the programs of law and religion, and love in religion in Regent’s Park College in Oxford University. He has published numerous articles and 12 books. Naftali Rothenberg is the 2011 laureate of the Liebhaber Prize for the encouragement of religious tolerance in Israel.
