4. The Few, the Proud, the Jew

Even if a Jew feels that he has nothing to be proud of as an individual, he must always remember his ancestors with pride. The world knows us as the Chosen People, People of the Book, G-d’s Children. But even we don’t fully appreciate the greatness of our relationship with Him. The Baal Shem Tov hinted at the secret bond that makes the simple Jew precious to G-d, just for being Jewish. The Rebbe included this idea in his choice of verses for children to memorize.
