How to Cure the High Holiday Hangover

Well, sorry to disagree, but this wrapping up the food to take it home ain't an exclusively jewish practice. Mexican families (mostly Mexican moms) do it all the time.

Still hungover: quick question Eveything you said was wonderful and uplifting and I will take away goodies from your talk. However, making my house be Torah, and making it an everyday think without taking it for granted as David asked, is this our doing? David asked this of the Lord. We, during our Yom Kippur, as the Priest does His thing for G-d's people, we are suppose to be -עָנָה- busy in such a way as to become completely distracted by our ahnah? Should I have been busy asking the Lord to do this for me as David is or should I have been busy planning my new year and how I will try and make it a new year and not like my last year which was full of moments I fell short or just down? Ahnah? What about the ahnah we are to have on this day, what's that? How do I keep my body from working and busy my soul to distraction if I don't know what to be distracted about? Sounds like I just take the little gift bag of goodies home from shul and let the Lord do the rest for me? Next year maybe I will understand better? Reply

Oh my goodness! Thanks, Rabbi Taub I never imagined only Jewish mothers come home from an elegant evening with a "doggie" bag!! My mother always did (does) this. And, more....she kept (maybe still keeps (I'll have to ask her) a cooler in the trunk of her Mercedes!! (Well, well, well...yet another piece of evidence tending to prove mommy is a Jew!).
