Later on in this part of Tanya (Ch 9) Rabbi Schneur Zalman explains that when a person repents, they should double their good deeds, "as a rope that has been severed is retied doubly". The concept of Teshuvah is the reconnection of the soul. Elsewhere Rabbi Schneur Zalman says that "if there was the medical possibility of reattaching the head to the body, this would be a fitting analogy for Teshuvah". Reply
