Knowing Imperfection

Can you explain this please?

G_D Showing His Self in us? Thank You for this and Happy New Year, A very tmely reminder that in our imperfections lies the Light. Any time I am down and feel I have failed in being a good person, reading something as wise as this reminds me we are created in His image and not to give up. C. G. Jung, in his book "Answer to Job" also talks about how G_D needs us to know Himself better. I am not sure I understand this part 100%, but I know that by realizing our imperfections we get closer to G_D and make room for his Light. Maybe it is Him showing His Self in us? After all, is He not already All-knowing? Reply

This poem comes to give a meaning to all the suffering, joy, battle, discernments, deceptions, rewards, etc., in our daily life. He is the only true love of our heart and the only Light our being chases. Reply

'demands' LOVE this dose of wisdom!i we're not perfect, G-d knows that, (i wouldn't even want to be "perfect", whatever that means) BUT as Rabbi Freeman wrote a few years ago, G-d dwells wherever we let Him in! how awesome - for me personally, G-d's my conscience and guide, so He knows me well, i feel; and surely knows all of my failings - and attempts - to try to improve and grow. (Rather than getting despaired...."if we think good, it will be good...." how true...all we need is faith and belief that HaShem loves us and believes in us.....imho...)

The G-d we know can be known. He is everything that makes sense out of our suffering, until finally we can see that we did not suffer in vain. Reply

Demands and the Kotzker Rebbe This is even a deeper affirmation for me, because I feel a very strong connection to the Kotzker Rebbe. His quotes come to me like signposts.

Demands

Do you think He created us because He wanted pristine, perfect beings?
He desired that a glimmer of Himself should descend into a creature
who cries and laughs and dances and bleeds;
who fails as much as he succeeds;
who chases after fleeting moments
and is torn by figments
of his own mind.
He wanted to live in the petty world of such a being,
and from within that place that glimmer will come to know Himself. Reply

Demands I read these every day, and am always inspired by them. But I must admit, I don't understand what on first glance appears to be a very simple statement. How does this imperfect being come to know "Himself" ? And why would G-d want that? With the holidays approaching, I feel more and more like I would be a hypocrite to go and pray as if I were walking a righteous path, leading a life of purity. Nothing could be further from the truth. So how does that imperfect person find G-d? Reply
