God expects nothing in return from us humans; His only desire is that we know Him, believe in Him unconditionally, and glorify Him.

Let us share the blessings that God has given us with those in need around us, while remembering Him. Additionally, Tzedakah (צדקה) is not only given through money. For example, the Tzedakah (צדקה) of our face is to smile, the Tzedakah (צדקה) of our tongue is to speak kind words, the Tzedakah (צדקה) of our hands is to do good deeds, and the Tzedakah (צדקה) of our knowledge is to share what we know. I got a great score!. But i don't understand, to give EVERY DAY? is that just to serve as a reminder to give in order to make it a habit? One could give once a month with a larger sum and give far less more often. Reply

Jack Harpers Ferry, WV November 16, 2022

oi! I need help with this topic! I definitely have my heart in the right place, but my knowledge of the subject is sorely lacking! 6/10 But there is a place that I read every day that notes "*here is where we put something aside for charity" ... so I would not have thought that tzedekah is _before_ prayer since this occurs _during_ prayer... I tried again today. 10/10!!! And I still have so many questions!!! But B''H I now know a lot more about tzedekah! Reply

9/10 - It.was an easy quiz. But I never heard of a tsedakah collector. Thank you Rabbi Posner. Reply

#6 True or false: Ideally the recipient should know the identity of the benefactor.
Answer records false, but then it says to see Maimonides 8 levels and the highest level relays charity specifically to a Jew, is this not part of one’s “identity”? Reply

in response to benjamin connally:

B"H there are millions of Jews in the world. So knowing that you gave to a Jew still does not mean that you know WHICH Jew. When you give to a charity organization, or the Rabbi of your shul, you don't know who they will give your money too. :-) Reply

8/10 I don't know anything about Tzedakah! I had to do some reading before taking this quizzes! Thank you for your quizzes! It teaches a person like myself who is Non-Jewish! Thanks for another wonderful quizzes Rabbi! Shabbath Shalom. Reply

If the poor give10% it often means skipping a few meals, not to mention loss of dental and vision care and likely all health care because they have no insurance and don't get even the discount that is given to insurance companies for the same service...

What is counted as income for the 10%
a company car, housing, stock options, Discounts at businesses, 401K, private School tuition for kids, reduced summer camp costs, included health insurance maybe even dental and vision care more

HOW DO ALL THESE FIT COUNT AS INCOME? Reply

Since when does tzedakah NOT mean righteousness? Reply

10/10. One of my favorite ways of giving tzedakah is by giving travelers shliach mitzvah dollars to protect them on their journeys. Reply

Lauren Diane Spector Bend, Oregon July 15, 2022

7/10 Thank you Rabbi for these quizzes. I know I thank you every week. I really apricate these quizzes. I grew up in a secular home, even were Jewish, we did not practice. This way I learn about Judaism more. I try to practice. I do go to Synagogue, before Covid. These quizzes bring me closer to Judaism. Thank you. Reply

Really good quiz! 9/10. I always something new when I do these quizzes, even when I do relatively well answering the questions. The cool thing about being Jewish is that I will be learning until I am brought to my true home--and then I will learn even more! Reply
