Two Paths - Michal I can't answer the question about G-d any more than I can answer how Hitler's mind worked; however if G-d had not been with us, would there be any Jew alive in Europe today? Hitler, left to his own devices, would have wiped out European Jewry, possibly more, since Hitler was not limiting himself to just Germany and Europe; he was global in his insanity.

One line in Tanya (I'm a beginner) stood out and imprinted itself in my mind - that line was "some questions are insolvable."

Another lesson came from a young rabbi who spoke during a Holocaust remembrance service; he said "we have to forgive, but can never forget - lest it happen again."

Today, the why is not as important to me as the question to myself - what can I do or what small part can I contribute to ensure that we, G-d forbid, should ever see another Holocaust? Reply

Jacob's Path The Almighty created the world. Therefore, in everything there is G-dliness. It is men who distorted everything. They want to have their own gods, and beliefs. That is where idolatry starts. Then, we blame G-d for the causes of hatred, and jealousy. This behavior is what consumes us all. Why blame G-d for what happened in the Holocaust? It was men doing. Their hatred. G-d said to love one another as ourselves. But there are those who wants power, and riches, at any cost. Even some angels turned against Him. Should G-d destroy ALL His creation because of these unfortunate haters? Their time is coming soon. It is such a pity. Reply

And where was God in Auschwitz? Did He suffer with His children in the gas Chambers? (Sorry, it is not at all meant in any way sarcastic. It is one of the greatest questions in my life. Reply
