Dr. Nelia Kravetz, a resident of a nursing home in Southern Israel, passed away on April 4 as a result of complications due to COVID-19.
Kravetz was born in Belecz (Bălți), Moldova, in 1931. She worked at the tuberculosis institute in Kishinev and was a thoracic surgeon by profession.
She immigrated to Israel in 1973 after the Yom Kippur War with her husband, Dr. Ilya Kravetz, in addition to her parents and two sons.
Kravetz worked as an anesthetist at Soroka Medical Center in Beersheva for 20 years.
She cared for her husband with tremendous sacrifice until his passing in 2009.
In addition to her children, Kravetz is survived by four grandchildren.
