One of the most prominent faces in the Chassidic court of Bobov, Rabbi Yaakov Yisroel Kohn passed away shortly after contracting COVID-19, leaving a gaping hole that won’t be filled anytime soon.
Kohn was held in high regard by the leaders of the Bobov dynasty.
The late Rabbi Naftali Halberstam, Grand Rebbe of Bobov from August 2000 until March 2005, used to request Kohn stand in front of him during the recitation of the priestly blessing.
Blessed with a radiant smile, the man affectionately known as “Yankel” was known for his love of fellow Jews.
He is survived by a large family.
