Mazal Flinkenstein was a longtime, committed and active member of the Chabad community in Brighton Beach, N.Y. She passed away on April 6 as a result of complications due to COVID-19.

Flinkenstein, who was originally from Tunisia, left for Paris, France, and then the United States, where she arrived with her young family in 1969.

She is survived by sons Rabbi Dovid Flinkenstein, who serves as a Chabad-Lubavitch emissary in Wilmette, Ill., and Dr. Simcha Flinkenstein of Minneapolis; in addition to grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gedalia.
