Related to the previous leaders of the Ger Chassidic community, Rabbi Yosef Bokchin passed away on April 7 from complications due to COVID-19.
He was just a young man when he became one of the first American yeshivah students to travel abroad to study with Rabbi Yisroel Alter of Ger in Israel.
Returning thoroughly inspired, he wound up earning a living by running a woodcraft business in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Bokchin was also known for devoting many hours of his day to learning Torah, committing vast tomes to memory.
