Rabbi Usher Halberstam passed away on March 28 from complications due to COVID-19.

He was a direct descendant of the saintly Rabbi Chaim Halberstam of Sanz, the legendary 19th-century Rebbe, and related to many generations of subsequent Chassidic leaders.

While a longtime resident of the Golders Green community in London, in his later years, Halberstam relocated to Brooklyn, N.Y., where he spent the last two decades of his life and served as a prime example of what a Chassid should be.

He is survived by his wife, Renee, and three children.
