Rabbi Avrohom Eliezer Gordon dedicated his life to education, inspiring thousands of elementary-school children at Yeshiva Beis Dovid in Monsey, N.Y., over the course of his nearly 50-year career. He passed away on March 26 from COVID-19.

Known for his genuine care and love for each student, coupled with a dry sense of humor, Gordon served as a role model for the generations that came through his classroom. He treated his young charges like adults, encouraging and motivating them to aim higher and achieve more.

Shortly before his passing, the rabbi relocated to Lakewood, N.J., where he was a frequent congregant at the Khal Chassidim synagogue.

Gordon is survived by his eight children, nearly 100 grandchildren and countless students.
