A community activist and dedicated Satmar Chassid, Safra Spilman was a respected elder in the Williamsburg community until his passing on March 30 as a result of COVID-19.

The Satmar Rebbe of Williamsburg, N.Y.—Rabbi Zalman Teitelbaum—paid his final respects to Spilman by participating in the funeral service before he was laid to rest in the Upstate New York village of Kiryas Joel.
