Dawn of a New Age

At the time of the disarmament talks in the U.N. (January 1992):

On the wall outside the United Nations building, the nations of the world have inscribed their goal, the words of the Prophet Isaiah,

“They shall beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning forks.”

Now the Cold War has ended, and funds for arms will go instead to feed empty stomachs. Armies will be used to bring food to strangers. The prophecy has begun to be realized.

The Cold War did not end due to humankind’s power of reason. War never made sense, yet the same rational human being has fought them for millennia.

What has happened is that the light of a new age has begun to shine in our world.

Do religions preach peace and prosperity Peace and prosperity are possible but I wonder if tolerance for religious beliefs are compromising, and maybe especially so the religion of the Jewish, religion of the roman, religion of the protestant, religion of the Islam, religion of Baptist, religion of religion. Religion are beliefs and do religions preach peace and prosperity. Reply

Skeptics? Dear Rabbi Freeman,

With due respect to your wisdom and knowledge, I must object to the use of the word 'skeptics'. I prefer 'realists'. The choice of the word 'skeptics' implies a disregard for what is or could be 'good' in this world. Those of use who do not SEE the prophecy of Isaiah coming true yet, still believe that it will eventually happen on or before another 226 years with the coming of Moshiach (may he come yesterday). Realism and belief can and should be equal partners in our attempts to understand this world we live in - praying to HASHEM will certainly help (that is also our belief).

Please do not lose faith in the Rebbe's predictions - there is a New Era emerging - how long it will take to be seen and understood by a simple folks like us - it is all depend on Hashem - but transition of quantity into quality are happening and we have to believe that it is a dawn of coming of our long expected-to-come Mashiah.
The world to Come will be perfect and it will include among everything else
the fulfillment of the words of the Prophet Isaiah,

Dear Skeptics, First of all, there was an opportunity at that point. Maybe we dropped the ball. But the opportunity is still there.

Secondly, since 1990, crime in America has dropped dramatically, world prosperity has increased even more dramatically, with a burgeoning middle class in India, much of the Far East, and now Central Africa as well. World health and child mortality has also improved phenomenally, especially in what used to be "Third World."

And thirdly: From WWII until 1992, we grew up with this ominous awareness that at any moment the superpowers might blow up the whole world with one stupid press of a button. Maybe we should remain just as paranoid, but we aren't, and I don't think it's reasonable to be so. For me, that's a relief. Reply

Dawn of a New Nature Only the Light can change our egoistic nature of self-love

The evidence is clear - our self-love evokes wars, hatred etc. We cannot change ourselves - each attempt ends in failure to overcome our evil inclination towards others.

Now the time is mandated for us to request the Light to give us a NEW NATURE - to exit our limited self and rise above our programmed reasoning which commands us to choose self-benefit. We need to have the will to change - then we will witness the "Dawn of a NEW AGE" Reply

not yet War is as present as ever, partly it has only changed forms. The funds feed no hungry but go into the same arsenal plus more refined concepts like: drones, cybersec and private armies [like the former Black Water]. We are not there yet. Reply

Light of a new age? The 2012 Fiscal Year budget requests totaled a estimated cost of $676 billion for the United States Department of Defense, which included $553 billion in discretionary funding, $5 billion in mandatory funding, and an additional $118 billion for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The budget request also included $19 billion for defense-related atomic energy programs and $8 billion for defense-related activities in other agencies.
That brings the total national defense budget to $703 billion.
The above cost is the HIGHEST level since World War II.
The Cold War expenditures peaked at $531 billion.
I highly doubt funds have been "freed up", to feed the hungry, since the disarmament talks in 1992. Reply

Illuminating/Comforting/Encouraging "I created your worlds not with a need, not from any cause, but nevertheless with a purpose and a desire: I decided that the Infinite Light should meet with the Absolute Darkness and in their marriage My Essence will be found. I chose to be found at home in the lowest of all worlds."

From the posting "Where the Essence Dwells" by the Rabbi F., it is encouraging to hear of this dawn as a point of view in recent history. The Hope of Peace and Unity. Reply
