ON THIS NIGHT WE LEAN

Leaning at the Seder is a sign of freedom. The Rambam writes that a person should always eat while seated, preferably leaning to the left, but not while standing or walking around, for this causes weakness and loss of energy.

BLOOD FROM STONES

During the plague of blood in Egypt, not only the rivers turned to blood, even the juice of fruits became blood too. Blood dripped from trees, from stones, and even from Egyptian idols.

THE 30TH OF NISSAN

The 30th day of Nissan is the Yahrzeit of the holy Rabbi Chaim Vital Zt"l, the only student of the Arizal (Rabbi Yitzchak Luria) who was allowed to write down his teachings. He passed away in 5380 (1620) in Damascus, but was moved recently to Kiryat Malachi in Israel. The Arizal said of him that he had the neshama of Rabbi Akiva.
