It is traditional to light bonfires on Lag BaOmer eve. These cupcakes, which resemble bonfires, are fun to make and delicious to eat.

You will need:

  • Your favorite cupcakes—homemade or store-bought
  • Small pretzel sticks (not the really thin ones)
  • Chocolate icing—homemade or store-bought (for homemade icing, see recipe below)
  • Optional: Peanut butter or marshmallow fluff as glue
  • Fruit rollup, fondant or hard candy for the flames

Instructions:

  1. Cover cupcakes with chocolate icing (for homemade icing, see recipe below).
  2. Dip some of the pretzel sticks in the remaining icing. Leave some without icing.
  3. Arrange pretzels on top of cupcakes standing up in slanted position to resemble bonfire logs. Use peanut butter or a little bit of marshmallow fluff to help position pretzels if needed.
  4. Create and add the flames. Use tie-dyed (red/orange/yellow) or plain red fruit rollup. Cut flame shapes with a plastic knife and stand them between the pretzels.

Homemade Icing:

  • ¾ cup confectioners powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp. hot water
  • 4 tsp. cocoa
  • ¾ tbsp. oil

Mix the sugar, cocoa and oil, and add the water slowly while mixing. Add more powdered sugar if the consistency is too liquidy.
