Keeping kosher can feel complicated. Part of keeping kosher involves keeping meat and dairy separate, including having separate sets of dishes for each.

Make these signs and hang them on the door knobs of your kitchen cabinets to mark which ones contain dairy dishes and which ones contain meat dishes.

We used blue for dairy and red for meat, because those colors are frequently used to differentiate meat and dairy in kosher kitchens, but you can use whichever colors you'd like.

You will need:

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Glue
  • Red and blue paint
  • Pictures of meat and dairy foods (you can print our pictures, or cut pictures out from magazines)

Step 1: Assemble the signs

Lay 11 popsicle sticks out side by side.

Glue a popsicle stick horizontally across the top and bottom of the 11, to hold the sign together.

Glue 2 popsicle sticks from the top corners of the square to make a triangle.

Leave the sign to dry.

Step 2: Paint the signs

Once fully dry, paint one sign red and one sign blue. (or use the colors of your choice)

Wait for the paint to fully dry before gluing on the pictures.

Step 3: Add pictures and labels

Label one sign dairy and one sign meat. Glue pictures of dairy foods on the dairy sign and meat picture on the meat sign. You can color and use our pictures, draw your own or cut pictures out of magazines you have in your house.

Step 4: Use 'em

Hang the signs from the cabinet doors in your kitchen. Enjoy!
