Positive Commandment 147 (Digest)
Covering Blood
"...and spills its blood, and he shall cover it with earth"—Leviticus 17:13.
We are commanded to cover the blood of a ritually slaughtered bird or non-domesticated animal.
The
147th mitzvah is that we are
commanded to cover the blood when slaughtering a bird or a chaya.
The
source of this commandment is G‑d's statement, "When he spills its blood, he must cover [the
blood] with earth."
The
details of this mitzvah are explained
in the 6th chapter of tractate Chulin.
