Negative Commandment 237 (Digest)
Participation in a Loan in which Interest is Charged

"You shall not impose interest upon him"Exodus 22:24.

We are forbidden from taking any active part in a loan that involves interest. We may not be the guarantor or witness for such a loan, nor may we act as the scribe who records it. (In addition to the prohibition against lending with interest, the borrower transgresses this prohibition too).

Daily Quote
A common misconception is that teshuvah ("repentance") is simply an antidote to sin, and thus applies only to sinners and lowly people. In truth, teshuvah is the soul's return to and restoration of its original purity, and applies to every soul that has descended into the human state.
