The name of the first section of the Book of Genesis is taken from its first words, “In the beginning” (Bereishit, in Hebrew), and opens with G‑d’s creation of the world. Humanity was created with the ability to choose between good and evil, but the first humans, Adam and Eve, misused this gift, launching humanity onto a path of increasing moral degeneration. Eventually, it became necessary to establish a new order and give the world a fresh start.

Daily Quote
If there be a prophet among you, I, G-d, make myself known to him in a vision, and speak to him in a dream. Not so My servant Moses; for he is the trusted one in all My house. With him I speak mouth to mouth, manifestly, and not in riddles; and the similitude of G-d does he behold. Why, then, were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
