My great grandfather (whom I a named after) was ha Chasidic Rabbi in the court of the Peremyshlyan Rebi. He was also the town butcher. He was captured by the NAZIs and forced to work on fortifications and then murdered. Another one of my relatives was Rabbi Lowe of Prague. I have learned that their are evil people in this world. That what we must do is the most good in spite of the evil ones. We must fight evil and do good. Learn to protect yourself 1st and work hard so you can help others. Reply

I am heartbroken and deeply saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Rabbi Zvi Kogan. Rabbi Zvi Kogan's passing is a profound loss for all of us. He was a beacon of light in the community. Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of Rabbi Zvi Kogan. His dedication to his faith and community was an inspiration to many.

Honoring his memory is important; but we must not divorce ourselves from the pain and terror he experienced. Therefore, as we pray in Av Harachamim on the holy Shabbos, H' yakum domo of this Tzaddik. I understand this comment is different than many received, but it does align with our mesorah and faith. Reply

My wife and I are shocked and saddened by the barbaric tragedy. We like the suggestion of donating a tzedakah to good causes in Rabbi Kogan’s memory. We are not Jewish, but we have many Jewish friends ad colleagues and our hearts are torn with this news. Reply

My Lubaavitch Rabbi Goldberg will receive funds shortly for Rabbi Zvi. Each month I save up funds and give them to our Rabbi. I wish we had a supermarket out here Kosher in Suffolk but we don't. I buy kosher meat at Traders Joe and will have more kosher food. For this shabbos I will add an extra prayer for Rabbi Zvi. Reply
