Dear Leaders,
We are so grateful that you are taking the initiative to organize study groups and share this material to inspire your friends and colleagues. Please share with us how your groups are going!
Here’s what Zelda from Canada shared: I used the packet tonight. It was very helpful and engaging. My group enjoyed it very much. Thank You!!
This week we explore the topic of gratitude. The very name for the Jewish people, Yehudim or Jews, comes from the root word of giving thanks. From the very first words we utter in the morning, the Modeh Ani prayer, to the many blessings we say before and after eating or drinking any food, our day is full of giving thanks to G‑d for His many gifts. In this packet we explore the origin of the name Judah, Yehudah, we read a story of deep gratitude expressed decades later, and we explore a question on an unwanted anniversary gift. We’d love to hear your take on all of these and how you’d respond.
Please share with us, too, what role gratitude plays in your life. How do you generate gratitude when you just aren’t feeling very grateful? Are gratitude and entitlement antithetical?
Wishing you a wonderful week,
Chana Weisberg,
Editor, TJW
