Dear Leader,

We’re thrilled that you are still here with us, arranging your hakhel gatherings and inspiring others to come together, study and become more inspired!

We are getting such beautiful feedback from many of you and we’d love to hear more! Tell us about your gatherings and any insights or comments that you have shared.

Here’s what Andrea had to share: Excellent. Count me in. We already have a Wednesday walking group with our Rebbetzin so we will integrate your weekly material. Please keep sending it to me. Thank you.

And here’s what Sharon wrote: Good afternoon Mrs. Weisberg, I’m IN for this initiative! What an amazing idea and I will continue to reach out for my progress and help as needed. I’m really excited for this leadership with a purpose.

This week, we explore the theme of prayer. In this week’s Torah portion, we learn that Rebecca and Isaac prayed for many years to have children. Later, we read about Isaac digging wells and so, we explore the similarity between digging wells and prayer.

What is Jewish prayer? What is the history of Jewish prayer and when were our prayers written and formalized?

This week, we also present a heart-tugging story from the depth of Soviet prison about a unique prayer book and the prayers recited there that were the most meaningful.

So tell us: Do you remember a time when you prayed intensely? What did it feel like? Do you pray daily? What do your prayers sound like? Please share with us in the comments below.

Wishing you a wonderful week,

Chana Weisberg,

Editor, TheJewishWoman.org
