Artist’s Statement: In my painting, the top word reads, “bereishit,” - “In the beginning.” It is the very first word in the Torah. The first three letters spell “bara” – “created.” The first and last two letters spell “bayit” – “home.” And the second, third and fourth letters spell “rosh” – “head,” which is an allusion to G‑d. Thus, from a single word we can learn that G‑d created the world as a dwelling place for Himself.
The second line in my painting reads, “avara kedavra,” which translates as, “I will create as I speak.” Indeed, G‑d created the world through 10 utterances.
