Tzaddik at Prayer

July 13, 2015

Artist’s Statement: Watching a tzaddik, a truly holy person at prayer, is an inspiring experience. The resonance and depth of the words, the way they reach and connect up above, all seems truer. An exploration—of the energy, of the Rebbe, majestic in his tallis and tefilin, focused with strength and concentration on the words, bringing light and blessing down into our world.

River of Light

Artist’s Statement: The mysterious folds and shadows of the creamy tallis became a landscape of hills and valleys, and the black stripes seemed a river of energy, combining with the meditative prayer and mood of the man standing in front of the raised Torah scroll. The textures, the atmosphere, the quiet holiness of the setting all inspired this exploration.

Creative works exploring life and Judaism composed by a spectrum of Jewish artists.

"The primary talent of an artist is his ability to step away from the externalities of the thing and, disregarding its outer form, gaze into its innerness and perceive its essence, and to be able to convey this in his painting. This is how an artist can serve his Creator." — The Rebbe
