Inauguration of the Mezuzah Campaign:
The Mezuzah bears witness that the entire home and all that is within it are permeated by the
Torah passages inscribed in the Mezuzah, beginning with: “Hear, O Israel, the L-rd is our G-d,
the L-rd is One”; and concluding with G-d’s promise of Redemption.
Inscribed on the outside of every Mezuzah scroll is G-d’s name — Shin-Daled-Yud — which
stands for: “Guardian of the doors of Israel.” Likewise, Rabbi Yehuda HaNassi explained to the
Roman Emperor that a Mezuzah elicits G-d’s protection upon the home and all its contents.
For those who are not in a position to pay, Mezuzos will be given as an outright gift. All that
matters is that every Jewish home should have Kosher Mezuzos, testifying that it is a domain
that is guarded — physically and spiritually — by the King of kings.
