A good homemaker is missing nothing in her home, but she also has nothing extra. Extra
possessions in one’s domain make clutter, they’re a distraction. So too, in the words of the
Talmud: “G-d did not create even one detail in His world in vain.” If an intelligent human being
avoids both deficiency and excess, then surely G-d, Who is the ultimate perfection, did not
create any detail in vain.

Every detail in the life G-d gives you has a purpose. When G-d created you, He knew that you
have a mission to accomplish, and for that mission you were granted a specific number of days
and years, along with specific opportunities and talents. So you must draw a conclusion from
your own doings: If you yourself utilize every moment and every opportunity to attain your
own purposes and pleasures, then surely G-d Almighty, too, created the entire universe – you
included – not only to fulfill a general purpose, but so that every single detail and every single
moment would be utilized in His service – “I was created only to serve my Maker.”
