Free Choice

The primary distinguishing feature which sets the human being apart from all other creatures is the free choice of action which the Creator bestowed upon us.

We can use this Divine gift either for self-destruction and the destruction of everything around us; or we can choose the right way of life, which would elevate ourselves and our environment to the highest possible perfection.

Responsibility
If it really is the case that free choice sets us apart from other creatures, then why is it that more and more religious people will be heard saying that "they are not worried (about their problems) its G-d's way".

Where is their belief in free choice then? In tough situations are human beings more prone to shrug off responsibility so they do not have to deal with the prospect of failure?

To me such talk is the greatest sin, on par with suicide. Not wanting to accept responsibility is to not want free choice, and not wanting free choice means not wanting to be human!

If you have true faith in G-d, you will know that regardless of outcomes, G-d will still love you, and you will still love Hshm.

The saying of "It's G-d's way" in troubled times, should be replaced simply with "I love G-d, and G-d loves me". This can easily show that we accept responsibilty in testing times, and by the virtue of being tested, reminds us of our greatest gift, free will.
